With proper care, your poinsettia will last through the Holiday season and right into late winter:

-Place in a room where there is bright natural light but not where the sun will shine directly on the plant.

-Keep the plant away from locations where it will receive hot or cold draughts.

-Poinsettias are fragile, place plant high enough to be out of reach of unmonitored children and pets.

-Set the plant in a water-proof container to protect your furniture.

-Water the plant thoroughly when the soil surface is dry to the touch. Discard any excess water which remains in the saucer or foil cover after 10 minutes.

-Fertilizer is not needed at this stage of the Poinsettias life.

-Do not over water your poinsettia.

-The bright colour of the bracts will remain longer if temperatures do not exceed 22 degrees Celsius

West Coast Gardens Retail Manager Jason Vandermey was nominated this year for Green Profit’s ‘Young Retailer of the year Award‘. He was in the top three for this category and was the first Canadian Retailer ever nominated for the award! Here is a expert from Green Profit:

“For the sixth year, Green Profit’s Young Retailer Award is shining the spotlight on garden retail’s young stars, those who have built up some formidable trade experience to hang their hats on and who have many more years to make an impact on the industry. Youth, enthusiasm, innovative thinking—and decidedly fewer creaky bones than their older compatriots!—will help get these finalists anywhere they want to take their businesses”.

From the retail staff to Jason, we are so proud to work at West Coast Gardens! Congratulations on your nomination!

Left to Right: Brian Goldbach, Jason Vandermey, and Jordan Graffin

Congratulations to Brian from Lancaster, New York who was named the Young Retailer of the Year.
