How to Plant an Evergreen Hedge

A perennial evergreen hedge is a great way to spruce up your garden that lasts year after year. Jason will give you all the tips and info you need to plant your own beautiful evergreen hedge!

When planting for your shrub, dig the hole twice as wide as the pot's circumference and only as deep as the soil in the pot. If you plant it too deep, then you will be covering part of the stem in soil and that can cause rot. Read the label to find out how wide your shrubs will spread out when they start growing. Then measure from centre to centre to make sure you don't place them too close.

Afterwords, loosen the surrounding soil with your shovel or hoe, and then add some topsoil. Jason recommends using Sea Soil, from years of great experience with this product. It adds natural nutrients to your garden, feeding your plants all season. To top-dress your garden bed, spread Sea Soil in a 2-3" layer on top, spreading it evenly with a rake.

Now all you have to do is wait for your shrubs to grow into a beautiful evergreen hedge!
